ALL THREE FUGITIVES IN CUSTODY FOR MARCH MURDER IN PRAIRIEVILLE – 4/13/2016 4:38 PM

After a 21-day manhunt, all three fugitives wanted in the March 24 murder of Dwayne Stephens on Lee Stevens Road in Prairieville have been arrested as of Wednesday evening.

According to Lt. Col. Bobby Webre, 22-year-old Joshua Stephens and 22-year-old Marcus Harris were taken into custody in Galveston, Texas Wednesday afternoon in a joint effort between the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, US Marshals, Galveston Police Department and the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.

They are being held in the Galveston County Jail awaiting extradition.

Both men will be charged with first-degree murder, four counts attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, aggravated criminal damage to property, and illegal use of weapon.

Additionally, 17-year-old Caleb Carter was arrested Tuesday evening after investigators received a Crimestoppers tip that led to his location in Baton Rouge. He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail and charged with first-degree murder, four counts of attempted first-degree murder, and aggravated criminal damage to property.
