According to Sheriff Jeff Wiley, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Poe Road in reference to a burglary complaint on Monday, August 31.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. yesterday, deputies were en route to the address and were notified that the subject had stolen a six shot handgun from a family member and was making threats.
The subject, who was later identified as Stephen Guyon, told family members that he would crash his car through a security gate at a local plant and shoot anybody or any law enforcement officer that attempted to stop him.
Deputies were made aware of the vehicle that Guyon was traveling in and a short while later, deputies spotted Guyon near Interstate 10, near the Donaldsonville/Sorrento exit.
Guyon refused to stop and deputies ensued in a pursuit, but were able to take Guyon in custody without injury and the gun was recovered.
Stephen Guyon, 42, of 14084 Poe’s Road, Gonzales, was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary of an inhabited dwelling, felony theft, reckless operation, two counts of trespassing, flight from an officer, running a stop sign, and fugitive warrant from another agency.
He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail awaiting bond.
Guyon has been arrested five times for charges stemming from domestic abuse battery, issuing worthless checks, criminal trespassing, and DWI.
