APSO ARREST MULTIPLE PEOPLE IN BURGLARY OF ASCENSION BUSINESS – 9/6/2018 2:39 PM

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, along with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, arrested three individuals responsible for a burglary of a business that occurred on Monday, September 3, according to Chief Deputy Bobby Webre.

Ascension sheriff’s deputies responded to Light Speed Motors, located on Airline Highway in Gonzales, in reference to a burglary. Upon deputies arrival, they located the glass windows were broken and at least five individuals were captured on surveillance video stealing five motorcycles valued over $20,000 before fleeing the scene.

On Tuesday, September 4, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office observed a juvenile suspiciously pushing a motorcycle down the street which was discovered later to be one of the motorcycles stolen from the business.

As a joint effort, deputies were able to locate and arrest three individuals in Assumption Parish that were involved in the burglary and recovered four of the five motorcycles stolen. A male juvenile was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of stolen property from Assumption Parish and burglary, felony theft, and damage to property in Ascension Parish. He was released to his parents.

Also arrested for their involvement was:

Harden Lewis, 19, of 6027 Highway 308, Belle Rose, and Dequan Stewart, 17, of 6113 Highway 308, Paincourtville, were charged with burglary, felony theft, and criminal damage to property. Both were booked into the Assumption Parish Jail and will be transferred to the Ascension Parish Jail at a later date.
