Four Ascension Parish men and a Zachary woman have been cited for littering over the past seven days in three separate incidents.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a trash dumping complaint at the intersection of Saint Elmo Road and Stanford Levy Road in Darrow on April 14- April 29. After seeing the deplorable conditions, deputies installed video cameras to help aid them in catching the suspects.
Deputies reviewed the surveillance video and not only captured suspects dumping large items on the property but were able to identify the suspects in three separate cases.
On May 4, deputies issued a summons to Allison Beasley, 26, for littering.
On April 28, deputies issued a summons to Percell Gomez, 35, for gross littering for dumping several large items on the property.
On April 25, surveillance video captured 35-year-old Dominick Boudreaux, 35-year-old Charles Burl Jr., and 72-year-old Melvin Boudreaux dumping a large television on the property. All three men confessed to the crime and were issued a summons for littering.
As a result of this property becoming a dumping site, the sheriff’s office is stepping up its enforcement of litter and illegal dumping.
“This area is a total mess with trash dumping,” said Sheriff Wiley. “It is hoped that all of these violators are given the maximum fine,” he added.
