Shortly after 5 p.m., Tuesday evening, December 15, deputies responded to the Harvest Supermarket parking lot in reference to a shooting that occurred.
Through investigation it was learned that 29-year-old Seth Vinet and 28-year-old Chris Fontenot got into a physical altercation that started in the parking lot of Harvest Supermarket. A female victim attempted to break up the fight at which time Vinet pulled a gun and fired a shot that accidentally struck the female victim in the arm.
The female victim then ran inside the supermarket seeking help. She was transported to a nearby hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Vinet, of Gonzales, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal use of a firearm, and negligent injuring.
Fontenot, of Gonzales, was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and simple battery.
Both were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set yet.
