APSO SEARCHING FOR SUSPECTS IN THURSDAY NIGHT HOMICIDE – 3/25/2016 10:25 AM

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives are currently investigating a homicide that occurred late Thursday night, March 24, at a residence on Lee Stevens Road in Prairieville, according to Lt. Col. Bobby Webre.

Deputies were dispatched to 39150 Lee Stevens Road in reference to a shooting where they learned 33- year-old Dwayne Stephens suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen where he was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

As the investigation continued, it was learned that a Lincoln Town Car pulled into the driveway and three black males exited the vehicle, one armed with a firearm and one with a semi-automatic rifle. The suspects were identified as 22-year-old Joshua Stephens, 17-year-old Caleb Carter, and 22-year-old Marcus Harris.

The suspects began firing towards the victim as he walked towards the residence, striking him multiple times and firing shots into the residence.

“Detectives observed over 30 bullet holes in the residence where four other people were inside, including two children at the time of the shooting,” Lt. Col. Webre said.

Joshua Stephens, 22, of 39150 Highway 929, Prairieville, is wanted for first-degree murder, four counts attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, aggravated criminal damage to property, and illegal use of weapon.

Caleb Carter, 17, of 39150 Highway 929, Prairieville, is wanted for first-degree murder, four counts attempted first-degree murder, and aggravated criminal damage to property.

Marcus Harris, 22, of 3374 Eleanor Drive, Baton Rouge, is wanted for first-degree murder, four counts attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, aggravated criminal damage to property, and illegal use of weapon.

This case is still under investigation at this time.
