APSO TRYING TO IDENTIFY SKULL FOUND IN WOODED AREA MONDAY AFTERNOON – 1/31/2017 3:12 PM

The LSU FACES lab is assisting deputies in trying to identify a human skull that was found on Monday afternoon, January 30, in a wooded area off Germany Road in Prairieville.

According to Sheriff Jeff Wiley, a human skull was found in the wooded area by a neighbor’s dog Monday afternoon. The neighbor dialed 911 and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigator’s arrived on scene to take over the investigation.

Early Tuesday morning, detectives and LSU FACES lab located the remaining bones in the wooded area. At this time, there is no evidence of foul play suspected. However, sheriff’s detectives continue with their follow up.

Investigators are working with the LSU FACES Lab and the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab to determine the identity of the person found.
