A 27-year-old woman riding her bicycle this morning shortly before 5 a.m. was struck and killed by a vehicle on Highway 22 near Melancon Road.

The victim, identified as Jessica White Gibbs, was transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced deceased a short while later.

This case is still under investigation and more information may be available at a later date.
