Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 19-year-old Travis Jones on Monday, December 5 after he attempted to flee from a vehicle where he was a passenger when deputies stopped the vehicle for a minor traffic stop.
According to Chief Deputy Bobby Webre, Jones led deputies on a short foot pursuit on Pine Street in Donaldsonville Monday night. As deputies arrested Jones they located a black and silver handgun in his possession and a quantity of marijuana. As deputies continued to search Jones they located a quantity of cocaine in his jacket pocket and another firearm in his pants leg.
After further investigation, it was learned that both of the firearms recovered from Jones had been reported stolen.
Travis Jones, 19, of 3996 Stewart Lane, Donaldsonville, was arrested and charged with two counts illegal possession of stolen things, three counts of illegal carrying of weapons, possession of marijuana, and flight from officer.
He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set yet.
