Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeff Wiley reports that on Sunday afternoon, shortly before 4:30 p.m., deputies responded to a shooting on St. Vincent Street and Sixth Street in Donaldsonville.
Upon deputies’ arrival, they learned that Jeffrey Johnson was in his vehicle traveling on St. Vincent Street when he noticed two black males that were standing in the roadway, blocking him from passing on the roadway. Johnson asked them to move and one suspect pulled a gun and fired one shot into Johnson’s vehicle. Sheriff Jeff Wiley said that Johnson’s daughter and a friend of Johnson’s daughter were also in the vehicle but were unharmed.
Johnson suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his hand and shoulder and was treated at a nearby hospital on Sunday afternoon.
Detectives arrived on scene and took over the investigation which led to the arrests of Joshua Green, 27, and Derrick Morgan, 18. Both subjects are from the Baton Rouge Glen Oaks area.
As the investigation continued, detectives learned that Green initially gave deputies the wrong name.
