EARLY MORNING SHOOTING LEAVES ONE DEAD – 7/5/2016 12:55 PM

At approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday morning, deputies responded to the area of Highway 22 and Interstate 10 in Sorrento in reference to a 36-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound to the mouth.

According to Chief Deputy Bobby Webre, the victim, later identified as Shondrica Dejoie, died at a local hospital from her injuries related to the gunshot wound.

As the investigation continued it was learned that Dejoie’s fiancé, Jarvis McNair, followed her at a high rate of speed and came to a stop at Highway 22 and Interstate 10 and shot her while in her vehicle.

Jarvis McNair, 26, of 1942 S. Ringer Ave., Gonzales, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, illegal use of a firearm, fugitive warrant from Gonzales Police Department for domestic abuse and aggravated assault with a firearm.
