Demond Foley was taken into custody in a joint effort by the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, the New Orleans Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals late Friday evening at an apartment complex on the west bank of New Orleans after investigators received a crime stoppers tip leading to his location.
According to Lt. Col. Bobby Webre, Foley was wanted in the murder of 37-year-old Chad Nichols and 29- year-old Benny Booker that occurred on January 26, 2015 in Donaldsonville.
Foley is being held in the Orleans Parish Prison awaiting extradition. He will be booked into the Ascension Parish Jail and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Foley is the fifth person arrested in connection with this double homicide, added Lt. Col. Webre.
On August 6, 2015 detectives arrested Quinton Jackson, 26, of New Orleans. Jackson was located in New Orleans and arrested with the help of New Orleans and federal authorities. On October 22, 2015, deputies located 35-year-old Marlon Williams in Assumption Parish and he was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. 28-year-old Eric Bernard was located and arrested in New Orleans on October 26, 2015. Thaddeus Nathan, 23, was located in New Orleans and arrested on October 30, 2015 and charged with two counts first-degree murder.
