Former APSO Deputy arrested for sexual relations with a juvenile
A former Ascension Parish deputy is under arrest for malfeasance in office and first-degree rape.
The investigation began Monday night revealing that 31-year-old William Lanoux, of Prairieville had sex with a juvenile while on duty.
As the investigation continued it was learned that the two met on a social media site. Later that night the two met at an undisclosed location in Prairieville where Lanoux was led to believe he was meeting an eighteen year old female. This occurred shortly before he was due to be off duty.
Upon receiving a report of a juvenile runaway the sheriff’s office then initiated an investigation where Lanoux subsequently admitted to sexual relations with the victim, who was also the juvenile runaway.
Lanoux was employed by the sheriff’s office in 2008 and most recently worked in the criminal investigation division as a plain clothes detective.
Upon Lanoux’s arrest he was immediately terminated. He is currently incarcerated in the Ascension Parish Jail where he is awaiting bond.
