Ascension Parish Deputies Daniel Story, Owen Dempsey, Matthew Johnson, and Eric Knapps graduated
from the Capital Area Regional Training Academy (CARTA) in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, March 29.
“This graduation represents 11 weeks of hard work and resulted in all of these deputies attaining their
POST certification,” said Sheriff Jeff Wiley.
Capital Area Regional Training Academy (CARTA) is a product of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.
There were 48 graduates representing 19 different agencies from across the state. The graduates
learned physical training, legal and report writing skills, law enforcement history, and numerous other
topics and skills.
