Shortly before 8pm, Friday, August 19, deputies responded to 40421 Fox Run Drive in Gonzales in reference to a domestic disturbance, according to Chief Deputy Bobby Webre.
Deputies arrived on scene and located a neighbor standing in the front yard of the residence holding a handgun. The neighbor told deputies that he came to the residence because he heard a disturbance and came to see if he could help. As he approached the residence he encountered 43-year-old Nicky Wilkinson who was armed with a handgun. Wilkinson pointed the gun at the neighbor, prompting the neighbor to fire a shot, striking Wilkinson and killing him.
As the investigation continued, deputies learned that Nicky Wilkinson’s wife came to the Sheriff’s office on February 16, 2016 to file a restraining order on her husband. At the time of his death, the restraining order was active and the two were due in court this Friday, August 26.
The neighbor will not be charged in Wilkinson’s murder. .
