GEISMAR MAN ARRESTED IN HOMICIDE CASE – 3/12/2018 10:50 AM

A Geismar man was arrested early Monday morning, March 12, in connection with the death of 36-year-old Frederick Patterson who was found Sunday night by deputies at a residence on Braud Road in Prairieville.

According to Chief Deputy Bobby Webre, deputies responded to Braud Road in reference to a shooting. When deputies arrived they located Patterson deceased inside the residence.

As detectives began their investigation it was learned that 35-year-old Cedric Emerson killed Patterson with a shotgun inside the Braud Road residence. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.

Detectives located Emerson on Germany Road a short while later where he was taken into custody. He was charged with second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, and illegal use of weapons.

While in custody, Emerson attempted to flee from detectives and was also charged with resisting an officer and simple escape.

He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set.

Emerson, of 3645 Highway 73, Geismar, has a lengthy criminal history with over 22 arrests with charges stemming from simple battery, robbery, and aggravated assault.
