Ascension Parish Sheriff’s deputies were actively working a residential burglary that occurred on Babin Road in Gonzales on Monday, October 30 when a subject, later identified as Blake Wiltz was observed trespassing on the homeowner’s property.
Deputies stopped Wiltz and learned he had an active bench warrant for traffic tickets. When deputies arrested Wiltz he was in possession of a book bag that had a small amount of marijuana, a crow bar, and various stolen items, including a shotgun, said Lt. Col. Ward Webb.
As the investigation continued, Wiltz admitted to burglarizing the residence, another residence on Whitfield Road, and a third residence on S. Angelle Court in Gonzales.
The total value of stolen property was approximately $5,000.
Blake Wiltz, 33, of 13391 Dooley Road, Gonzales, was arrested and charged with trespassing, three counts of burglary of an inhabited dwelling, burglary, possession of marijuana, theft of a firearm, and theft.
He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set yet.
