GONZALES MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE CHARGES – 4/30/2018 2:33 PM

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Bobby Webre reports the arrest of 25-year-old Carlos Nicholas who was charged with home invasion, possession of marijuana, possession of a legend drug, possession of MDMA, simple robbery, and theft.

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Carol Street on April 7 in reference to a home invasion. Deputies met with the victim who advised that a male suspect entered the residence and ransacked the bedroom. The suspect left with the victim’s cell phone and purse, which contained personal information and several debit and credit cards.

As the investigation continued, it was learned that the suspect used the stolen credit card at the Gonzales Wal-Mart. Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Detectives were able to obtain surveillance video and positively identify Nicholas making a purchase with the stolen credit card.

On Saturday, April 28, with the assistance of the Gonzales Police Department, deputies were able to locate Nicholas who had a quantity of drugs in his possession at the time of his arrest.

Nicholas, of 2824 South Burnside Ave., Gonzales, was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where his bond was set at $67,000.
