Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre reports that 35-year-old Darren Gauthier was cited for careless operation and hit and run after investigators began an investigation at the Lamar Dixon soccer field fence.

On April 8, the sheriff’s office received a report that a portion of the soccer field along St. Landry Road was damaged from a vehicle that apparently drove through it during the night before.

The vehicle struck the ditch before crashing through the fence and fled the scene. Deputies located parts of a vehicle that identified as a white GMC Sierra pickup.

Detectives with the APSO Property Crimes Unit began an investigation to locate a suspect. Detectives utilized specialized traffic cameras in the area to determine any potential leads.

After following several leads, detectives located Gauthier at his residence on Monday, May 27 where he was issued several tickets.
