Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence on John Street in Geismar in reference to a domestic disturbance on Tuesday, October 4 at approximately 6 p.m.
Deputies arrived on scene and learned that 46-year-old Christopher McCumber went to the residence of his children’s mother to gather some belongings when a verbal altercation turned physical, according to Chief Deputy Bobby Webre.
As the investigation continued, it was learned that McCumber choked the victim and then left the residence.
Deputies were then dispatched back to the residence shortly after midnight because McCumber ran his vehicle into the victim’s vehicle and then kicked in the front door. Two teenagers were in the residence and were able torestrain McCumber until deputies arrived on scene.
Christopher McCumber, 46, of 37138 John Street, Geismar, was arrested and charged with domestic abuse battery by strangulation, reckless operation, simple battery, simple criminal damage to property, and home invasion. He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set yet.
