Ascension Parish Sheriff’s detectives arrested 38-year-old Jeremiah Harrison and 35-year-old Tara Torres on Thursday, January 22 after receiving a tip of their involvement in the burglary of Galvez Pharmacy that took place on Saturday, January 16.
According to Major Kevin Hanna, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglar alarm at the Pharmacy just after 9:30 Saturday night. When deputies arrived on scene it was discovered that the perpetrator forced entry through the roof to gain entry into the pharmacy. The perpetrator stole several bottles of hydrocodone, codeine, alprazolam, cyclobenzaprine, all are controlled dangerous substances (CDS).
Detectives immediately began investigating the tip after it was received late Thursday night. Harrison was located at his apartment located at 18014 Autumn View Drive, apt 17, in Prairieville. He was questioned and confessed to the burglary. A small quantity of the stolen CDS was recovered from his apartment.
As the investigation continued, deputies also developed enough probable cause to arrest his girlfriend, Tara Torres, in connection with the burglary. Torres also had active warrants from another agency.
Jeremiah Harrison was arrested and charged with simple burglary of a pharmacy,= simple criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, possession of schedule II
CDS, and theft.
Tara Torres was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to simple burglary of a pharmacy and three counts of being a fugitive from another agency.
Harrison has been arrested over ten times with charges stemming from theft and drug charges. Torres has been arrested over seven times on multiple drug charges and theft charges.
Both were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set yet.
