In response to recent facebook posts in regards to an attempted child kidnapping in at least one subdivision in Ascension Parish that occurred over the weekend, please refer to the facts outlined below of this particular incident.

Deputies responded to a residence on Van Broussard Road on Saturday evening at approximately 5:30 p.m. in reference to a suspicious passenger in a green SUV, asking juveniles in the area to help him search for his missing dog.

It was learned that the suspicious person asked juveniles that were in the area if they had seen his missing dog that was described as a golden type dog.

This incident has evolved into reports of this happening in multiple locations around Ascension Parish that our office has NO reports of any type of kidnapping incidents occurring.

Please be assured that all deputies have been alerted to be on the lookout for this type of vehicle that was described and extra patrols will continue in the area.
