An Alexandria man is in custody after taking part in an armed robbery of an occupied vehicle at Sonic restaurant on Highway 73 in Dutchtown shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday night, July 19.
According to Sheriff Jeff Wiley, deputies responded to the area and learned that four victims had been robbed at gunpoint by two black males of their belongings and the vehicle and fled the scene.
No one was injured during the incident, added Sheriff Wiley.
Deputies located the stolen vehicle fleeing down Highway 70 in St. James Parish and a vehicle pursuit began. The stolen vehicle was found around St. James High School with the assistance of St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office.
A short while later, both Ascension Sheriff’s deputies and St. James Parish Sheriff’s deputies located 30-year-old DeSean Landry hiding in the area. Landry, of 5444 Mansour Avenue, Alexandria, was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on four counts of armed robbery, four counts armed robbery with a firearm, and four counts aggravated assault.
Deputies are still searching for the other suspect, said Sheriff Wiley. His identity and possible whereabouts is unknown.
