23-year-old Jarvis Weams of Prairieville turned himself into authorities on Saturday, July 29, after deputies responded to 39062 West Lane in Prairieville in reference to shots being fired in the area.
According to Lt. Col. Ward Webb, upon deputies’ arrival they located a male subject who sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
As the investigation continued, it was learned that Weams and the victim got into a verbal altercation that turned physical and led Weams to retrieve a handgun and fire at least five shots, striking the victim once.
Weams, of 39062 West Lane, Prairieville, was arrested and charged with five counts attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, and illegal use of weapons. Weams is currently incarcerated in the Ascension Parish Jail on a $155,000 bond.
