Shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday, August 14, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Oak Trace Road in Prairieville in reference to a neighbor hearing a gunshot that came from inside the residence, according to Sheriff Jeff Wiley.
Shawn Millet, 37, is believed to have killed Lacey Leblanc, 31, of Walker and her eight-year-old daughter inside the residence and then shot himself. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that Millet and Leblanc met online approximately six months ago. Leblanc and her eight-year-old child were visiting Millet’s residence and all three were seen on the porch of the residence Saturday night which was the last time that anyone had seen or heard from Leblanc.
After further investigation, deputies learned that Millet has a criminal history with charges stemming from domestic abuse battery and cruelty to juveniles. He also began treatment for mental illness recently.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death of Leblanc and her eight-year-old daughter in the near future.
This case is still under investigation and more information may be available at a later date.
