TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED, TWO AT LARGE AFTER SHOOTING IN GEISMAR – 1/10/2017 3:04 PM

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Detectives have arrested two suspects in the Geismar shooting that occurred on Monday, January 9 on Carrie Lane and two suspects are still at large, according to Sheriff Jeff Wiley. Detectives are now seeking the whereabouts of 25-year-old Johnathan Darville and 22-year-old Javante Haynes for their involvement in the shooting.

Shortly before 10 a.m. Monday morning, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Carrie Lane in Geismar in reference to shots being fired. Upon deputies’ arrival, they observed a male victim in the middle of road suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is still listed in critical condition.

At approximately 5 p.m. Monday evening, 26-year-old Kentrell Lewis and 20-year-old Jyvariel Harvey turned themselves into authorities, added Sheriff Wiley.

After further investigation it was learned that the victim and the four males got into a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation. The physical altercation became violent when 22-year-old Javante Haynes pulled a handgun out and shot the victim multiple times. All four men fled the scene.

Kentrell Lewis, 26, of 37346 Anderson Road, Geismar, was arrested and charged with attempted seconddegree murder.

Jyvariel Harvey, 20, of 37271 Anderson Road, Geismar, was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm. Harvey has a lengthy criminal history resulting in nine arrests with multiple drug charges.

Both were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set.
