White Castle man arrested on attempted second-degree murder charges
Shortly before 10 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call in reference to a suspect firing shots at a person from another vehicle on Highway 405 in Donaldsonville.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle and identified the driver as, 22-year-old Edward Westley Jr., of White Castle. Deputies located a handgun, drug paraphernalia, and quantities of cocaine and marijuana, and various prescription drugs that did not belong to him.
As the investigation continued, it was learned that Westley and the victim had an earlier altercation and Westley fired several shots at the victim, with two juveniles under the age of two in the vehicle. No one was injured.
Westley was arrested and charged with three counts attempted second-degree murder, illegal carrying of weapons, two counts possession of schedule II CDS, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
