A 49-year-old woman faces an attempted murder charge after she broke into her ex-boyfriend’s residence and attempted to shoot him with a handgun.

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Bobby Webre reports that on Wednesday, October 5, shortly after midnight, deputies were dispatched to a residence in Gonzales in reference to a burglary complaint. Upon deputies’ arrival, they learned that Lisa Snowten forced her way into her ex-boyfriend’s residence and attacked him. She then pulled the trigger as the gun was pointed at the victim, however the gun did not discharge. Snowten was gone upon deputies’ arrival.

A short while later, it was learned that Snowten showed up at the victim’s current girlfriend’s place of employment attempting to speak with her. With the assistance of Louisiana State Police, deputies were able to detain Snowten and she was placed under arrest.

Lisa Snowten, 49, of 4880 Martin Luther King Parkway, Carville, was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder and domestic abuse battery. She was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set yet.
